This song title looks more like a joke than it actually is but the song speaks of the relationship between the singer and her grandmother. It has got a very traditional and real feel to it. I’m not actually a huge fan of the way the lyrics was written because of the disjointed-ness from the 2nd verse to the chorus and also it felt like a story forced into a good piece of melody. Nevertheless, an interesting song.

every time i listen to this song i cry… but when i’m singing it i’m able to hold in my tears. hahahaha. that said, even though i really liked the song and appreciate how she managed to tell a story and keep listeners engaged in it, i wonder if it’s ethically challenging to make money off a song written about your dead grandmother whom you obviously didn’t take care of much when she was alive, if the lyrics are truth?
Wow, you ARE a follower of Japanese music. How do you get so much information from there.
I haven’t listened to much new Japanese music for the past few years till I came to Japan last year.
well, i follow oricon and orisuta on Twitter, catch the full episode of Music Station on Tudou.com whenever two of my favourite groups appear at the same time (Arashi/TOKIO/Ikimonogakari) and also i check out Google Japan and Yahoo Japan’s entertainment news page every day. i watch a LOT of dramas so the theme songs also contribute a lot to my ‘latest japanese hits’ education. haha. i’ve been listening to mostly Japanese music for almost half my life so like, 逆に listening to anything but Japanese is strange for me. are you like that?
i don’t purposely keep close tabs on the music industry, i think. it just comes as part of my interest in japanese entertaiment. i don’t listen to a lot of new music too, just whatever is in dramas or that year’s Kouhaku. i’ve recorded Kouhaku for the past two years and would always rewatch when i feel like it. it’s like, best songs of the best artists of that year, so it seems that i know a lot of new songs when actually they’re just songs from the past year. heeheehee.
