While I question her choice of clothes for her first appearance on national TV and understand the highly likely disapproval of Aguilera fans on her impersonation of their beloved songstress, I must say she is really good.
Like 12 year-old 水谷ゆう (Mizutani Yuu) whom I wrote about some time ago, 荒牧陽子 (Aramaki Yoko), 30, first appeared on Star Draft and is a pretty big star now. Since that appearance, she has received over 300 offers and her schedule is filled up to the next 6 months. Instead of sticking to just a few impersonations, she constantly inserts new materials into her repertoire and there’s always something to look forward to in her performances.
Male impersonation artiste 青木隆治 (Aoki Ryuji) once gave a guest lecture at a junior high school and when asked how he manages to manipulate his voice, he demonstrated how he could move his laryngeal prominence, or Adam’s Apple, freely and made the comment that it’s not possible for girls. While I admire his ability to impersonate even female artistes and honestly think he is very good, I thought that comment was crap and I’m happy that Aramaki Yoko came out and buried his bullshit.
Try youtubing 荒牧陽子. She may have impersonated some of your favourite singers and you can see for yourself how good she is.
I found that the above video has been removed due to copyright issues (her program offers have gone up to 400 since!). Though I kinda expect this to be removed anytime soon as well, I’ll just post it here for readers who didn’t manage to catch her first performance. I admit she can do better with some of the impersonations, but I still maintain that she is good.
This program is called 「世界１のSHOWタイム」 (World No.1 Show Time). It invites the best performers of any craft from all over the world to perform at this stage and all special guests (mostly CEOs of companies) as well as members of the audience will decide how good the performance is and how much they would pay for the performance. The catch is, it is not a survey. You have the pay the amount you entered out of your own pocket, so yes, for a few minutes performance, they can make a few thousand dollars.
Do you want to catch it live?
