I went for my first カップリング (coupling) event some time last week out of curiosity. Coupling as in, to form couples. In other words, it’s kinda like matchmaking, except more the “looking for a potential boyfriend/girlfriend first” and less the “give me a husband/wife and I’m out of here.” It started with just wondering what it’d be like to participate in one, and after having seen some of these events on TV, it became an itch I had to scratch, and so I signed up for one and headed to the event last Saturday.
While I am not experienced enough to make comparisons, I think I can recognise a poorly executed one when I see a poorly executed one. And as if my body tuned itself to match the execution, I didn’t fare too well either, although I wasn’t exactly out to find a life partner. There was, however, a very attractive lady with whom I managed to hit off well. But unfortunately, the inexperienced me decided to leave to speak with the others after some time and it all ended as if it never started.
Not expecting to join anymore. Interesting experience nonetheless.
