There’s been some magma activity reminiscent of a major volcanic eruption around 桜島 (Sakurajima) since Jan 1, 2015. News reports suggest that the impending eruption could match, or even surpass, the August 2013 eruption where volcanic lava shot up as high as 5 km from the mouth of the volcano. Alert level is set at level 3.
