Why do only lousy piano players play on the pianos at musical instrument shops?
I think you are just unlucky, hahaa. Or! Another very logical reason. Only ppl who are going to learn piano, or started learning piano and decided to invest in a piano, will go and test the piano in the shop to buy them. Expert piano players will probably not get a piano since they wld have alrdy gotten one.

And probably those who are really good would be buying pianos from more specialized shops that regular people wouldn’t visit eh?
hahaa yes. and the odds of good players buying a new piano is really low, considering the fact that a piano easily lasts 20, 30 years.
I don’t even dare to test try the piano in shops after learning piano for 1.5 years. I always get the shops assistants to play, lol. Luckily ah, if not if there happens to be you or someone like you in the shop, I’d be such a nuisance. Or wait, I could have inspired a post like this? lol!
Haha! I don’t find those people a nuisance. It’s just that even though I can’t play shit, I love the piano so much, each time I see one, I hope someone could play a beautiful piece for me. But it never happens at musical instrument shops. And yes, I could be writing about you! Lol.
