You Don’t Know What You Don’t Have Until It Comes

A couple of days ago, one of my clients texted me regarding a project that comes in every Wednesday and Saturday. On Wednesdays, I get two assignments that has to be done by the end of the day, and on Saturday, I get one. Because I have other work during the day, I usually do these assignments at night. However, due to a potential change in schedule, I was told that the assignment could be reduced to just once a week (i.e. one on Saturday). I was a little disappointed at the potential loss of income. However, I realized I was partly heaving a sigh of relief.

Sometimes I don’t realize how much work I’m taking on until when I actually lose them do I realize I’m glad they are over. This is like the opposite of “You don’t know what you have until it’s gone.” People don’t treasure what they have until they lose them. But I didn’t realize I do not have enough time away from work until it came. Well, it hasn’t come but it can, possibly.

Of course, I’d be glad if the job doesn’t get cancelled, but after this, I think I will try to not take on so much work. After today, that is. Because I just said yes to another assignment from a separate company =\

Work aside, some things have been missing in my life for quite a while and perhaps it’s because I haven’t had it for so long, I didn’t actually notice that I don’t have it. Thinking about it, I don’t even remember when the last time was that I felt this way.

But that’s a story for another day. ← annoying suspense
