YESSSSSSSS!!!! heh.
Lol, that’s a very affirmative yes.
Would you think there is a max amount you are willing to pay for the ticket?
I see you changed your replies 3x. Ha.
Max amount… maybe up to 40-60% of the original price of the air tix? If it’s way too high, I will think of other ways to make it happen. 🙂
So who is this special girl? Heh.
Oops! Did I flood your mailbox? XD
So, 40-60% above the usual ticket price. Seems like a fair amount.
Did it sound like I was particularly referring to someone? Lol…
Omggggg is this special girl Lena?!?! Wahahaha
hello thats damn random lol
Hahaha suddenly this post come, then u also flying to Japan :X hehehe
LOL
Hi Jinhan!
Trust that you’re doing well (you must be, I’m sure!). Just wanna share with you that I’ve registered for AIJP at Yamasa (Apr 2018 intake) and I intend to study for a year or so (4 terms). Currently filling up the forms, prepping the transcripts/certs/letters etc. I hope my visa application will be approved :\
I’ve decided to skip CELTA for now because I’m unsure if I’ll even be teaching in the end. Since my immediate I-am-very-sure-I-want-do-it goal is to be fluent in the Japanese language, I made a very big and expensive decision to plunge full-time into it.
The risky thing about this is I basically only have enough funds (aka my entire savings) to last me a year. This means at the end of one year, I’d have burnt my savings and will be jobless. Quite a YOLO decision (or a very selfish, irresponsible one) haha. And frankly speaking, I don’t see myself being very employable there, even after assuming I’ve completed the course and can at least speak some Japanese.
Having said that, I still want to do it. I may work part-time after I figure out how things work there. I’ll plan out stuff when I’m there. Am gonna take it one step at a time. Prob could use this sabbatical period to take a break, a step-back, and decide what I wanna do with my life.
Okay enough of my ramblings, I just thought of sharing this piece of info with you cos you were like my first beacon of light in this journey, haha!
Alex
Hi Alex,
Indeed it’s a YOLO decision but I don’ think it’s a selfish or irresponsible. The fact that you did your calculation means you are aware of what you are doing. Go for it! I made such a decision once, though the journey was tough, I’m glad I did it. Live your life!
Just thought I should comment to say that I agree with almony, that it is amazing that you even took the plunge. I have no balls to do that, lol. *respect*
And I’m sure GJH will be very heartened to know that he inspired yet another person through this space. 😀
Jiayou!
Hi Alex,
Great to know you’ve decided to make the move and thank you so much for sharing with me (and all other readers here). Like Almony said, I don’t think what you are doing is irresponsible given that you seem to have laid out plans and have clear ideas on how you want to go about doing it. Regardless of whether any single option has been decided, the point is, you know your available options in this path you’re taking and based on what you said, I just feel that everything’s gonna work out well for you. And like lena said, I’m very heartened to hear this piece of news.
I wish that everything turns out the way that works best for you, and although I’m not sure if I can be of any further assistance, if there’s anything you want to know or need help in, just drop a message anywhere here and I’ll do my best to offer what I can.
Last, but not the least, I don’t see why your visa would be disapproved so I’ll jump the gun and say congratulations!
Thank you almony and lena! Appreciate the words of support haha.
I will definitely live my life!
Hi Jinhan,
Pls delete the previous comment. On hindsight, it was too much unnecessary information. Btw, your blog is interesting. Keep it up!
Regards,
Amanda.
Hi Alex,
I’m Amanda currently in Yamasa. I just started this Oct, planning to stay for at least a year. Just to give you some assurance, I have met a few people in the same boat as you, myself included. I quit my job of 8 years to come here, and in your words (to take a break, a step-back, and decide what I wanna do with my life.) What made me do it was that I know that many years later I will regret not trying if I continued life back home. Even if I return home jobless, I will not regret coming here.
Working part-time shouldn’t be an issue. Many students do so here.
All the best and see you in April! Feel free to ask Jinhan for my contact if you wanna know more.
Now Jinhan knows he has another silent reader. haha 🙂
Amanda.
Hello Amanda,
Thanks for your comment! And it’s so nice that you are reaching out to lend a hand. Maybe you and Alex will get to meet in person when he’s over at Yamasa. =D
Hi Amanda,
First off, thanks for the reply! And I’m sorry for only replying now, because I was kept ultra busy over some project for my team in my workplace. It’s quite a huge one and my boss (they know I’m leaving) was asking me to build a good foundation for my successor before I leave, haha.
Anyway, I’m heartened to know that you’re in Yamasa too! Will definitely look for you when I’m there haha!
Jinhan – I also realised I forgot to thank the most important person i.e. you, haha! Thank you so much for your reply and encouragement. I will do my best. Was wondering if you could provide Amanda’s contact as well? Thanks again!
Thank you (ok that’s quite a lot of thanks, hahaha)
Emailed you!
