I’ve always had the idea that Taiwan is a very cheap and affordable place to live in. It probably is slightly more affordable than many nations but I learned that it isn’t as cheap as what I had thought. So, after almost a year, I finally posted a new video here. Hope you enjoy it!
How Much It Costs to Live in Taiwan

Hi Jinhan,
Did your girlfriend join you in Taiwan too? For 2 persons living in this space, it’s really small! I’m also living overseas in Korea by myself in a 2 room (with 2 bathrooms) serviced apartment (around Unseo area which is near to the Incheon airport) and paying about SGD $3k (normally i think it would cost SGD $4k-$5k? but my company has a corporate contract with the serviced apartment building owner) for close to 80sqm of space which is inclusive of utilities.
Hi QL,
Yes, she did join me in Taiwan but unfortunately, we parted ways since. My current space is indeed too small for 2 as there is practically no room for personal space. You mean you’re paying $3k yourself? Sounds very expensive a sum to pay alone =\
Hey JH, I don’t mean to pry, but the term “parted ways” got me curious. While the conventional understanding would imply that you’ve split up, the lack of space might also mean that you’re just living separately. This is just me being kaypoh, and you don’t owe anyone an explanation by any means.
Regardless, hope you’re doing well in Taiwan!
Hi KL,
Apologies, I didn’t notice your comment. It’s used in the conventional way.
Hope everything is fine for you too.
Thanks so much for replying. Take care of yourself!
Small update on my side: It seems like going over to Japan for JET (or any other reason, really) won’t be possible this year. So, I’m trying to look for ways to occupy my time for now.
