Explore the two main winter attractions of Japan - Snow Monkeys and Hokkaido Winter Festivals.

Although winter is not as popular a time to visit Japan as other seasons, there are many reasons for choosing the winter to visit Japan. This tour features winter attractions and "must see" sights of Tokyo & Kyoto. You will be able to see a variety of winter scenes and attractions that cannot be experienced during other seasons.

This tour is a combination of our current "The Golden Triangle of Japan Tour Winter: Snow Monkeys" and "Charms of Hokkaido: Hokkaido Winter Festival Tour. " You can experience the two main winter attractions of Japan - Snow Monkeys and Hokkaido Winter Festivals - when joining this tour.

Watch snow monkeys bathe in the warm waters of thermal pools set against an icy mountain backdrop. See four Winter Festivals in Hokkaido - Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival, Sapporo Snow Festival, Asahikawa Winter Festival and Sounkyo Ice Fall Festival. Visit to the Kitakitsune Farm, which cares for the well being of one of Hokkaido's native treasures - the Ezo red fox. Take an icebreaker cruise on the Sea of Okhotsk through the drift ice along the Shiretoko Peninsula one of Japan's UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Visit Lake Tofutsu with over 2,000 whooper swans that migrate from Siberia each winter. In Akan International Crane Center, you can explore the winter home of the tancho, or Red-crowned crane. The Kushiro Marshlands is Japan's largest wetland, which is protected by the Ramsar Convention in 1980. Since then, it has been incorporated into Kushiro Shitsugen National Park in 1987.

In addition to the winter attractions, this tour also features popular cutural activities like experience a green tea ceremony and a meet-and-greet with a maiko – an apprentice geisha, learn how to make your own sushi with a professional sushi chef and savor your delicious creations,, enjoying traditional onsen baths, visiting the famous Kiyomizu Temple and Golden Pavilion (Kinkakuji Temple) in Kyoto as well as Todaiji Temple and deer park in Nara. Explore Kenrokuen Garden in Kanazawa and visit the charming village of Shirakawa-go to learn about the traditional gassho- zukuri architectural style. Arrival Departure Airports
  • • For arrivals at Narita Airport (NRT), this tour starts in Tokyo and ends in Kushiro, with departures at Kushiro Airport (KUH).
  • • If you will be flying into Haneda Airport (HND) instead of Narita Airport (NRT) on the first day, airport transfer is not included. We will provide with full instructions to get to the hotel in advance, or we can arrange shared shuttle service for you at US$75.00 per person per way.

Meet and Greet

Please note that the meet and greet and airport transfer to the first hotel is ONLY available on the first day of the tour after 11 AM. If you plan to stay extra nights before the start of the tour, we will provide full instructions in advance for you to transfer to your hotel on your own.
