Join the Super Grand Tour of Japan (Reverse), which includes Cherry Blossoms in Okinawa, Winter Festivals in Hokkaido, Kawazu Cherry Blossoms, and Snow Monkeys, on a delightful winter itinerary all across Japan.

Super Grand Tour of Japan (Reverse) - Cherry Blossoms, Winter Festivals & Snow Monkeys is a 27-day tour that visits 3 of Japan’s major islands (Hokkaido, Honshu, and Shikoku), plus Okinawa Island. The tour is carefully planned to enjoy Hokkaido Winter Festivals, Cherry blossoms at Okinawa and Kawazu, and adorable Snow monkeys.

The tour starts in Okinawa, where the cherry blossoms bloom far earlier than any other in Japan. Our tour features stops at Nago Castle Park and Nakijin Castle Ruins, offering delightful scenes of old Ryukyuan fortifications adorned with picturesque pink flowers. We admire its stunning landscapes at Higashi-son Fureai Hirugi Park, Daisekirinzan National Park, and Kouri Bridge. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sights of the Ryukyu Kingdom - Shuri Castle, Tamaudun Mausoleum, and the Sefa- Utaki sacred site. Also, learn about the impact of the Battle of Okinawa at the Peace Memorial Park, the Himeyuri Museum, and the Former Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters. While exploring the island, enjoy shopping at Kokusaidori and Mihama American Village, tour an Awamori Distillery and join a Cooking Class with Okinawan Longevity Foods.

We go from there up to the frozen island of Hokkaido, where the time is just right for the annual winter festivals. See magnificent snow and ice creations at the Sapporo Snow Festival and Asahikawa Snow Festival, see waterfalls frozen in time at the Sounkyo Ice Fall Festival, and walk through a winter wonderland on a frozen lake at the Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival. While on the island, we include many one-of-a- kind experiences: Learn about sake production on a trip to Otokoyama Sake Brewery, explore the Otaru Sushi District, see the Ginga and Ryusei Waterfalls, watch the adorable foxes at Kitakitsune Farm, take an Icebreaker Cruise at Abashiri, admire the Whooper Swans floating on Lake Tofutsu, go Smelt Fishing at Lake Akan, and browse the Washo Market in Kushiro. Enjoy these experiences and many more in Hokkaido.

The tour continues to Tokyo, seeing such incredible sights as Tsukiji Outer Market, Asakusa Sensoji Temple, and Tokyo SkyTree, while including a Sushi-making experience and some free time to explore the city on your own. Go from there to Hakone to take a cruise on Lake Ashi before attending the Cherry Blossom Festival in Kawazu city. The Kawazu cherry blossoms are the earliest cherry blossoms to bloom on the main island. We take the Kachi Kachi Ropeway for beautiful views of Lake Kawaguchi and Mount Fuji, and then go to Matsumoto to see the city’s famous “Crow Castle”. The next day, we see the adorable Snow Monkeys of Yudanaka, then see the Old Town Sanmachi Suji and browse the Morning Market in Takayama. The tour continues to the UNESCO World Heritage village of Shirakawa- go to see the “Gassho-zukuri” farmhouses, then we stroll through Kanazawa’s Kenrokuen Garden. We ride the Bullet Train to Kyoto, then see the ancient city’s most famous temples and shrines including the Golden Pavilion, Kiyomizu Temple, and Fushimi Inari Shrine, while experiencing traditional culture such as a green tea ceremony with a geisha apprentice. We stop in Nara to see the magnificent Giant Buddha at Todaiji Temple and mingle with the wild deer, then go to Osaka to enjoy the Dotonbori street scene and shop in Shinsaibashi. Finally, we make our way towards Shikoku, stopping first in Hiroshima to see the Peace Memorial Park and the floating gate of Itsukushima. In Shikoku, we take a boat ride through Oboke Gorge, wander around beautiful Ritsurin Park, and see Kotohira-gu Shrine, before finishing the tour with a meal of mouthwatering Kobe Beef.
