This tour is designed to give you an in-depth understanding of Japan's most important and famous locations as well as its hidden gems and rural locations, plus expo 2025 Osaka Kansai.

This tour consists of the Japan Spring Highlights itinerary and an additional day in Osaka for the Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai.

Expo 2025 Osaka is a global event in Japan showcasing future technologies, cultural exhibits, and sustainability solutions. The event features national pavilions, an innovation zone, and artistic installations. Visitors can explore themes like future living, sustainability, and cultural exchange while enjoying entertainment and international cuisine. The Expo aims to foster collaboration and envision a better future.

This tour is designed to give you an in-depth understanding of Japan's most important and famous locations as well as its hidden gems and rural locations. From the relatively newly settled Hokkaido with its western style buildings and abundant wildlife to the ancient capital city of Kyoto rich in a long history, you will be able to see many different sides of Japan. In addition to the must- see sites of temples, shrines, museums, and the like, you will also get to experience the Alpine Route and Snow Corridor, Snow Monkeys of Yudanaka, Fuji Shibazakura, and if the weather is in our favor, the beautiful Cherry Blossoms.

You will start your tour in Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island and prefecture. While Hokkaido is best known for beautiful scenery and landscapes, it is also the home of many breweries, great food, and a rich history. Though it was settled quite recently, Hokkaido still has an interesting background and many of the buildings resemble those of the western world. In Shiraoi, you will learn about the indigenous people of Hokkaido known as the Ainu. Once a hunting and fishing society, most of the Ainu have assimilated into the general population so there are great efforts to revive and preserve their heritage before it is forever lost. In Noboribetsu, the Jigokudani "Hell Valley" creates a scene of primordial beauty wreathed in volcanic smoke. The region has various hot pools and rivers, such as the Oyunomagawa Natural Foot Bath, which is an excellent place for hikers in the area to soak their tired feet. Lake Toya is one of the most beautiful places in all of Hokkaido, and springtime offers especially lovely views at night, of a fireworks show reflecting a rainbow of color in the clear water.

Hakodate, which located in the southern part of Hokkaido, has been a major trade port with the West since the mid- 1800s. Perhaps the most distinct feature of Hakodate is Fort Goryokaku, which is a Western-style military fort that was converted into a park. The distinctive star- shaped park is bordered on all sides by picturesque clusters of cherry blossoms. The view from Mount Hakodate is also a sight to behold, with visitors taking the ropeway up to the viewpoint to enjoy the breathtaking scene. As a prosperous fishing port, Hakodate also has a lively morning market full of delicious seafood. Also in southern Hokkaido, visit Matsumae Castle, which prospered during the Edo period through trade with the indigenous Ainu people. The castle structure has over 10,000 cherry blossoms planted north of its grounds with 250 varieties of the flower, which is celebrated every year with the Matsumae Cherry Blossom Festival. Since the powerful Matsumae family once ruled the area, there is an event during the festival where there is a march of people clad in samurai armor.

Otaru is a beautiful fishing port with a charming local culture influenced by the West, with a glass factory called "Garasukan" and a Music Box Museum with music boxes from around the world. Foodies will enjoy the trip to Otaru Sushi District, which features fresh locally- caught seafood. Sapporo is one of the top destinations on our tour, and we explore the must-see historic sights of Hokkaido's capital city. The Historical Village of Hokkaido offers a window into the past, showing the island developing into what it is today. Taste fresh beer at the Sapporo Beer Museum and satisfy your sweet tooth at Shiroi Koibito Park. Odori Park is the best place in the city for Cherry blossoms and is a picturesque retreat from the bustling city.

You will then fly from Sapporo to Tokyo to see the main island of Honshu. Here you will see Asakusa Temple, well known and awe-inspiring with its large, colorful main temple building. You can also experience sushi making with a professional chef and the famous Tsukiji outer market. Drive by the historical Imperial Palace, and take in the view from the record- breaking Tokyo Skytree’s main observation deck. Then, travel to Mt. Fuji for the Shibazakura Festival. Here, there are thousands of pink Shibazakura flowers forming a carpet with Mt. Fuji in the background. A great place for pictures and taking in the scenery. Then, travel north to Matsumoto for Matsumoto Castle. This castle is more eye-catching than most Japanese castles due to its black exterior finish. One of the stars of this tour is the nearby Snow Monkey Park of Yudanaka. Here, the monkeys have taken a liking to bathing in the hot spring baths. You will get to learn what that is like at the hotel and Onsen hot spring where you can relax and reflect on the beauty you have seen so far.

You will spend a whole day traveling along the much requested Alpine Route, featuring the Snow Corridor. These walls can get up to 20 meters high on either side of the path. Along with the Snow Corridor, there will be many beautiful natural sites to see and experience, especially high mountains and crystal clear lakes. In Takayama, you will continue to enjoy the rural atmosphere of the area by visiting the morning market and Old Town. Then in Shirakawa-go, visit the traditional style farmhouses that have been dedicated a UNESCO world heritage site. Some of these are still inhabited by farm families and some have been turned into museums.

You will then take a train to Kyoto, once the capital of Japan and still considered its cultural and historical center. Kyoto was the capital of Japan for a little over 1000 years before Edo, now known as Tokyo, became the capital in 1869. As such, it has a very rich history which can be clearly seen. From the Golden Pavilion build in 1397 to Kiyomizu-dera which was founded in 778. You will also have opportunities to experience a traditional green tea ceremony hosted by an apprentice geisha (maiko). You will then tour Nara, an even more ancient capital of Japan. While it does not match Kyoto's longevity as a capital, only serving from 710 to 794, Nara still has a great history. It's landmark Todaiji Temple houses the largest bronze statue of Buddha in the world. It is also the location of the well-known deer park where wild deer roam contentedly and munch on cookies hand fed to them by visitors. You will then visit Hiroshima where you will see the harrowing site of the Peace Memorial Park and A-bomb museum. You can then visit Miyajima and it's famous Torii gate standing out in the water. This site will bring you hope that the world may one day achieve peace. The tour will then experience the famous Kobe Beef for a farewell dinner. Take this time to reflect on the history, culture, and beautiful sceneries you have experience on this tour of a lifetime!
