Experience the more traditional side of Japan by staying in Japanese-style inns and one night at a Buddhist Temple

Japan is filled with beautiful landscapes, traditional culture, and a rich history. On this seven day tour, guests will experience the beauty and history of Japan throughout the Tohoku, Kanto, and Chubu region. Learn more about Japanese culture while exploring places less travelled by the common tourist, this tour is a wonderful option. Travel comfortably on a private coach bus with a knowledgeable English-speaking guide at your side providing valuable insight into Japanese culture and sites.

Meet your tour guide and fellow travelers in Tokyo, where your journey begins. Travel to Nikko, a stunning national park with a grand shrine standing near the entrance to the park. Enjoy the sights of Lake Chuzenji and Kegon Waterfall, one of the most stunning waterfalls in Japan. Travel to Karuizawa, where we will first visit Shiraito Falls, a beautiful cascading waterfall that resembles thread-like strands as it falls to the pond. Enjoy time shopping at a fashionable shopping plaza with over 200 stores. In Yamanouchi, visit the popular Snow Monkey Park, where Japanese Macaques bathe in the natural hot spring baths. Nearby, we will find Obuse and visit the Hokusai Museum, dedicated to the famous paiter from the Edo Period. At the nearby Old Town, visit museums, galleries, and gardens before transferring to Nagano, where guests will stay overnight at a Buddhist Temple. Enjoy Shojin ryori, vegetarian cuisine prepared and enjoyed by the monks.

Enjoy the experience of joining a morning prayer with the monks in the temple's main hall before heading to Matsumoto Castle. This castle is one of Japan's 12 original castles which have never been destroyed by war, natural disasters, or fires. Visit Lake Kawaguchi, a hot spring resort town located near Mt. Fuji, where guests will enjoy a Japanese-style dinner before unwinding in the hot spring baths at the inn. If the weather allows, visit Mt. Fuji's 5th Station, where guests can enjoy the cool climate and many souvenir shops. Afterwards, take a crusie around Lake Ashi, a lake formed by Mount Hakone's eruption 3,000 years ago. Visit Owakudani by taking the Hakone Ropeway, where you can see beautiful views and bubbling hot springs. The tour will continue back to Tokyo, where guests will spend their last night of the tour.
