You might have seen the ad below somewhere, especially on dictionary websites. I’ve seen it multiple times since I used to work in a translation company, and had to do a lot of dictionary and thesaurus checking to make sure I am using the most appropriate word there is to match the meaning in the original text.

I have been pretty disturbed by the above ad, however. Perhaps it is due to my ignorance and lack of understanding, but while the ad reads “Instant Grammar Checker” and “Correct all grammar errors and enhance your writing” with the corrections marked out, it appears to me none of the corrections are for grammatical mistakes.

Pardon me. Just trying to be an ass.
