The new, the interesting, and the common

The problem with starting a blog to share new things on your life overseas is that, when you move over, the plethora of “new”s makes it an Olympic challenge to put everything into words and so you pick and choose. Over time, the new things morph into not-new-but-interesting things. Nevertheless, still worthy entries to put into your ego-boosting online diary you blindly assume would be a major hit if people actually knew about it. A few years later, everything becomes so common you find that your foreign sense to detect anything fun to write about has deteriorated so drastically, you either stop writing, or you start writing entries like this to make it seem like your basket’s not empty yet.
